• Maya Digital Studios & Vimanika Comics to create a TV Show

    Mumbai: Maya Digital Studios and Vimanika comics have come together to bring mythological comic characters into their animated avatars.

    Maya Studio will be creating an animated TV series and TV Film based on Vimanika?s comic, ?The Sixth: Karna?.

    The TV Film will be 70 minute long, followed by a series of 104, 11-minute stories that will be created based on this comic series.

    An exclusive preview of the series will be presented at the Mumbai Comic Con 2012.

    Maya Digital studios, in the recent past have created a 3D animated show out of Lotpot comics popular Motu Patlu and converted Amar Chitra Katha?s Sons of Ram into stereoscopic 3D.

    Maya Digital Studios chairman and managing director Ketan Mehta said, "For a child, comics are the first interface with reading and animation with content viewing. Our focus at Maya is to bring in the best possible comic content into an animated form. The Sixth is precisely such a highly contemporary yet traditionally rooted concept, and with our animation, we?ll take this already popular brand to an altogether new level."

    Vimanika Comics CEO Vir Arora said, "The film and series will be in tandem with the artwork and story line of the comic. However there will be necessary creative changes as it?s a different medium."

    The Sixth Karna is a story about a real hero. He had all the attributes and characteristics of a god but flaws like a human. Karna was born to a royal family and yet he led the life of a lower caste. But more than that, the story highlights how he overcame all the abuses and challenges life threw at him.

  • Maya Digital's 3D animated show to premiere 16 October on Nick

    MUMBAI: As part of its attempt to offer differentiated content, Viacom18-owned kids channel Nick has bought the telecast rights for 3D animated TV show Motu Patlu based on the popular characters from Lotpot comics, Motu & Patlu.

    Produced by Maya Digital Studios, the 3D animated show will premier 16 October on Nick and will air daily at 6:30 pm.

    Inspired from the characters of Lot Pot Comics, Motu Patlu is a lively comic caper that is sure to engage kids as well as the entire family. Set in the beautiful city of Furfuri Nagariya, Motu and Patlu are as similar as chalk and cheese, always on an adventurous expedition and having an uncanny ability to get into tricky situations.

    Maya Digital Studios chairman and MD Ketan Mehta said, "At Maya, we want to bring the best of Indian content with world class animation & believe that since animated content is the first interface of a child with entertainment content it is very important to have an Indian cultural connection with it.     Apart from the fact that Motu Patlu boasts of state-of-the-art 3D animation, another highlight of the show is the title song which brings together the musical triumvirate of Gulzar - who is writing a kids song after many years, Sandesh Shandilya - who has composed music for the entire series including the theme song that is sung by renowned singer Sukhwinder Singh.

    Commenting on the launch of the new show, Sonic and Nickelodeon India Executive Vice President & Business Head Nina Elavia Jaipuria, , says, "Kids are the most dynamic consumers to please and we have to keep evolving and innovating to keep them engaged. We promise kids that with Motu Patlu we will give them a show that hasn‘t ever been seen in the kid‘s category as yet. We will make sure that the kids have a rollicking time with our crazy duo."

    The channel will bring Motu Patlu to the audience through a 360-degree marketing campaign consisting of multiple touch points covering ATL and BTL media vehicles. Mass media such as a cross channel television plan, print, outdoor and radio will be used.

    In addition, Motu Patlu will also be brought to the kids through numerous BTL activities consisting of van activations in smaller towns, mall activations and engagement in retail chains such as Pantaloons and Time zone. Innovative Motu Patlu meals will be available across Bombay Blues outlets in Mumbai. Motu Patlu will also be promoted through hobby workshops with Hobby Ideas.

    In order to connect with the tech-savvy kids of today, Nickelodeon will invest in building digital assets for Motu Patlu. Kids can interact on the digital and mobile platform through numerous Motu Patlu games, contests, downloads and a lot more on the dedicated micro site motupatlu.in. Social media like Facebook and Twitter will also be used to keep the engagement going.

  • Maya digital converting Sons of Ram from 2D to 3D

    MUMBAI: Maya Digital Studios is converting Sons of Ram, a mytho film co-produced by Amar Chitra Katha Media and Cartoon Network, from 2D to stereoscopic 3D.

    Sons of Ram will, thus, be India?s first ever animated film to be converted to stereoscopic 3D,the company that pioneered the art & technology of animation & visual effects in India in the 1990s, has come a long way. It has excelled in 2D to stereoscopic 3D conversion today.

    Everyone knows that the studio has recently completed the entire 2D to 3D conversion work on one of Indian cinema?s greatest films of all time Sholay. With its expertise in place, the studio has now taken to do the same in Sons Of Ram produced by Amar Chitra Katha (ACK).

    Said Maya Digital Studios chairman & managing director Ketan Mehta, "3D is the future of entertainment and we at Maya are extremely thrilled to bring India?s first animated 2D to 3D converted film Sons of Ram for the Indian audiences.     While Sholay came with its own technical and creative challenges for conversion, Maya successfully delivered the same within the stipulated timelines. The conversion of SONS OF RAM brought in newer challenges. ? Based on ACK?s bestselling comic book, Sons Of Ram tells Luv and Kush?s journey through enchanted forests into the revered land of Ayodhya, the home of their fabled heroes. Complete with a brand new gang of loveable characters, this feature is the epic coming-of-age adventure as never seen before.

    The film will release in Hindi and English in over 400 screens pan-India on the first day of the Diwali school holidays, 2 November. Select theatres will screen the film in stereoscopic 3D.

    The movie will also have releases in Tamil and Telugu.
